GUGGENBERGER NAMED CHL MOST OUTSTANDING GOALTENDER
NETMINDER BREAKS GROUND IN FORT WORTH HOCKEY HISTORY

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 23) – The Central Hockey League announced Friday that Mark Guggenberger has won the Scott Brower Award, given to the league's Most Outstanding Goaltender. The 23-year-old received 29 of the 50 total votes.

The award is yet another acknowledgement of the stellar season Guggenberger has had. Earlier this week, the Richfield, Minnesota native earned CHL Rookie of the Year honors and was selected to the All-CHL team and All-Rookie team. In the history of the Central Hockey League (in operation since 1992) and the old Central Hockey League (operational from 1963-1984), Guggenberger is the first Fort Worth-area hockey player to win either the Most Outstanding Goaltender or Rookie of the Year award. Mike Veisor of the 1972-73 Dallas Black Hawks was the only other Rookie of the Year award winner in the Metroplex.

The 6’3’’, 208-pound netminder is currently 21-9-3 and leads the CHL in goals against average (2.12). Guggenberger won Rookie and Goaltender of the Month in February, a month in which he set a Brahmas franchise record for three consecutive shutouts and set a CHL mark for consecutive scoreless minutes (238:31), spanning over the course of five games.

Additionally, the rookie was selected to his first All-Star game in January and made 35 saves on 36 shots to earn the victory.

Fan Appreciation Day

The Brahmas are set to play three games this weekend. The team is on the road in Tulsa Friday and in Allen Saturday for a first-round playoff preview. Sunday at 4:00pm, the team returns home to play the Evansville IceMen on Fan Appreciation Day. Throughout Sunday’s game, various prizes will be given to fans in attendance.

Pep Rally at Anejo

The Brahmas are hosting a postseason pep rally Tuesday, March 27 at Anejo - located at 9159 Boulevard 26, Suite 300 in North Richland Hills – for the fans to usher in the 2012 CHL playoffs with the team’s players, coaches and staff. The party will go from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
