NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 14)- The quest to defend their CHL title will begin this weekend for the Texas Brahmas as they open the 2009-10 season in Colorado on Friday and Saturday.

The Brahmas will face the Eagles in a 2009 Finals rematch, where Texas won the series 4-1 for the franchise’s first championship. This will be the lone road trip to visit the Northern Conference foes in Colorado, in the 64-game regular season schedule. Faceoff begins at 8:05 PM (Central) and can be seen online on
CHL-TV. Friday’s game will be complimentary as fans are asked to enter access code chltv on the CHL-TV launch page.

To jump start the season, ZuRoma Bar and Grill, located in the NYTEX Sports Centre, will host a game watching party Friday evening. Brahmas fans are invited out to cheer on the purple and black as well as take part in the drink specials offered by ZuRoma ($2 Domestic Drafts, $3 Import Drafts, $3 Well Drinks and $4 Frozen Drinks).
Texas will have their home opener at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Saturday, October 24 at 7:05 PM to face the Mississippi RiverKings. Pregame festivities include the unveiling of the Division, Conference and Championship banners. 
With many familiar faces returning this season, including Captain Craig Minard, goaltender Brett Jaeger and 2009 CHL Playoff MVP Jason Deitsch, the Brahmas are looking to repeat as League champs.
"This is a first for our franchise to enter a season as defending champions," said Brahmas General Manager Mike Barack. "We are extremely confident in the caliber of players to skate on the ice as we look for a second consecutive President’s Trophy."

* As the Brahmas continue to tweak the roster, they traded defenseman Derek Merlini to the Tulsa Oilers for future considerations Tuesday.

* Texas' next home game is Saturday, October 31 against the Allen Americans. The first 1000 fans at the NYTEX Sports Centre will receive a 2009-10 magnet schedule.
